Throughout The Conjuring Universe[]

Annabelle: Creation[]

When Annabelle died, her parents, Samuel and Esther prayed to anything that could bring their daughter back. As a result, they didn't know that they summoned Malthus, who was a horned demon, disguised as Annabelle then Malthus wanted permission into the doll. Soon, the Mullins saw Annabelle's spirit and they overjoyed. But soon they realized that it wasn't their Annabelle except Malthus who was a demon that disguised himself as their daughter. Malthus attacked Esther and gouged her left eye out which is why she wears a doll mask to cover it then she and Sam locked the cursed doll in Annabelle's closet as they covered the walls in Bible pages and blessed the household 12 years earlier.

In 12 years later, when night falls, Janice, a young girl crippled by polio and one of the orphans, is awakened by a noise. She decides to investigate where the noise came from, and discovers a note, saying "Find me.", just like how Bee did. Janice sneaks into Bee's room, which has somehow been unlocked, despite Samuel's warning to not enter. Janice finds a key within Bee's dollhouse, and unlocks Bee's closet, unintentionally freeing Annabelle. Annabelle, now released from Bee's closet, begins terrorizing the girls throughout their stay at the Mullins farmhouse, primarily focusing on Janice.

On the third night, Janice hears "My Sunshine" playing on the gramophone in Bee's room. After Janice turns it off, her best friend, Linda enters the room. Janice tells her about Bee, and Linda accidentally shoots Annabelle with a toy gun, resulting in the doll glaring at her ominously. After Linda leaves the room and goes back to bed, Janice reads Bee's diary, and the door shuts. Annabelle then appears to Janice in Bee's form, and Janice asks Annabelle what she wants. Annabelle turns around with a demonic face, and declares that she wants her soul.

When Janice is locked in the barn by Annabelle who disguised herself as Charlotte, Bee's spirit possessed her and began to terrorize the nun and other girls, including Linda.

Annabelle Comes Home[]

After Daniela Rios accidentally releases Annabelle from her glassy prison, she summons other evil spirits inside the Warrens' Artifact Room in order to attack Judy and her friends, including Bee's ghostly spirit. When Mary Ellen opens the door, she meets Bee who asks for Annabelle. Mary Ellen told her that there's no one named Annabelle, unaware of who Bee truly is. As Bee said Annabelle is behind Mary Ellen, the babysitter's confused look only makes the girl laugh, and she’s never seen again afterwards. Afterwards, Bee's spirit was peeking in Judy's blanket to scare her, and her shadow on the wall standing up next to Annabelle and told her that "I like your doll."
